The HudsonAlpha Scientific Advisory Board met at the Institute this week for its annual discussion about current and future research at HudsonAlpha.

The board, comprised of world-renowned leaders in genomics and biology, establishes and governs the scientific direction of the Institute.

“We are honored to have such dedicated colleagues and friends of HudsonAlpha spend so much time with us,” said Rick Myers, HudsonAlpha president and science director. “Our Scientific Advisory Board gives us crucial feedback on our strategic planning so that we can stay on the forefront of the genomics field and achieve the greatness to which we aspire.”

Members of the HudsonAlpha Scientific Advisory Board are:

• Leif Andersson, Ph.D., professor in functional genomics in the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Microbiology at Uppsala University, Sweden, and winner of the 2014 Wolf Prize in Agriculture
• Deborah Nickerson, Ph.D., professor, University of Washington and Associate Director of the Northwest Institute of Genetic Medicine;
• Geoffrey Duyk, M.D., Ph.D., Managing Director and Partner, TPG Alternative and Renewable Technologies/TPG Biotechnology
• Thomas Hudson, M.D., President and Scientific Director, Ontario Institute for Cancer Research and Director, P3G (Public Population Project in Genomics)
• Tom Maniatis, Ph.D., Isidore S. Edelman Professor and Chairman of the department of biochemistry and molecular biophysics, Columbia University Medical Center, and co-founder, New York Genome Center
• Val Sheffield, M.D., Ph.D., Howard Hughes Medical Investigator, and Director of the Division of Medical Genetics at the University of Iowa
